Cut-out Stickers

We remove the excess material, and leave behind the desired shapes, which are then pre-spaced and held together with temporary application tape. What is vinyl?

Self-adhesive films or vinyls come in a wide variety of grades, colours, and surface finishes. For sign makers or digital printers, it is important to understand the fundamental differences between calendered and cast films to make informed choices about their use in different applications. The raw materials and manufacturing methods significantly impact the product’s performance during handling, storage, and application.

MONOMERIC VINYL

Monomeric vinyl is made of plasticisers with smaller molecules and shorter chains. This composition greatly affects the performance of adhesives and laminates. It is known as the most cost-effective vinyl choice, often called indoor or one-year vinyl.

POLYMERIC VINYL

Calendered “polymeric” vinyls have longer molecular chains and larger molecules than monomeric vinyls, which reduces the movement of plasticisers from the vinyl. This results in better adhesive performance, longer lifespan, flexibility, and more stable films with less shrinkage. We suggest using polymeric vinyl for outdoor applications that need to last at least four years.

CAST VINYL

Cast vinyls are seen as the top choice in the industry. They start as a liquid, where the ingredients are mixed and poured onto a casting sheet. This method creates a very thin film that is strong, flexible, adaptable, and stable, while keeping its colour. These films work well on complex surfaces, like vehicles, where a smooth look is important. They mainly come in colour, but printable options are available; these need to be laminated with a clear cast vinyl to last at least seven years. Cast vinyl is also the most expensive type, with newer versions possibly costing up to ten times more than monomeric vinyl.
